
BRIEFING
By developing an investigation work over a theme of sociological nature, it should be developed a project based on a communication platform/campaign, suited to the specifications and necessities of a work of social intervention, focused on the chosen theme. That platform, with a multimedia nature, may integrate different objects and media, suited to it’s needs and to the variety of solutions and foreseen interventions, by themselves or in partnership sistems.

quanto baste - sustentar o que nos sustenta, (meaning just enough - sustaining what sustains us), intends to promote a sustainable eating/alimentation through a new paradigm in food culture, grounded by our condition of social and emotional beings.
This project does not intends to be utopic, but instead it seeks to balance our life style, of our new strongly defined and irreversible rythms and priorities, with a consuption that sustains the world - a world that allow us to keep that same life style, sustaining what sustains us. It is by defining the factors that dominate our food choices - economic wealth, market imposed restrictions, food knowledge/literacy and what we wish to get from food - that the contents of these magazine are set.quanto basteis a publication that believes in people, pleasure and food, and it aspires to play with those three points to get the balance and sustainability that are set in the genesis of its creation.
The communication platform consists of a semiannual publication with contents of diverse nature but with a convergent theme - food. Each content is made from facts and data directly related with people, the readers, from something they can relate with, being possible to generate empathy. From that point on, a line will be traced linking one subject to every other facts, data and concepts of the magazine, ultimately creating a “diagram” of the total correlation between our alimentation and the World.
Balance, sustainability and awareness are the three key-words that, together with the project’s name and slogan, have always been present throught the whole designing process, from the concept’s definition, content research and the object’s definition, navigation, typography and visual language.The publication is mainly directed to Portugal’s youngest generations, naturally more open to change and willing to assume the critical though needed to the implementation of the most imperative and permanent changes.The sections of the publication were defined by setting a relation between the diversity of existing spoons a certain theme. The publication is composed by ten books, each corresponding to the ten existing sections, each one with it’s respective color, layout and pagination suited to it’s kind of content.
